I'm the Secretary of Ubar Grotto in Elizabethtown, PA. This allows you and the members of your local Grotto to do what you want to do and make your group successful. Every Grotto is allowed to operate as it sees fit. While there may be a State Association (depending on area) they really don't have any power. The best part of Grotto is that the Supreme Council (the national ruling body) is very hands off. I doubt you'll ever see anything TO like in Grotto. Seriously, Grotto is awesome!īUT, Grotto is only what you make of it (like any other Masonic group.) Historically, it's been a social group, much like the Shrine and the Tall Cedars. TL DR: What does your Grotto do at monthly meet-ups?Ĭongratulations, Prophet! You've just joined the best kept secret in Freemasonry. allowed to participate? Furthermore, what's your membership and attendance like? How frequently do you meet? What kind of activities do you have? Are wives/girlfriends/etc. So, I wanted to find out what other Grottoes do during their meetings. what the current activities are for other Grottoes. what the historic activities were, and 2. I just can't seem to find any information on 1.

I don't want to push a "Traditional Observance" framework on my new friends if that's opposed to the very purpose of the organization. This was met with a fair bit of resistance - and understandably so, since no one likes having some new guy come in and say, "Hey, let's do this differently" moreover, it may just not be right for the purpose of this organization. I had proposed that, instead of the chain diner (which I've always found over-priced for a mediocre dining experience), we have a catered meal, perhaps even in the form of a festive board. Very rarely, we proceed to the temple to conduct ceremony - though, it seems that this generally happens only for the conferral of initiation. My Grotto meets monthly, generally at a local diner, for drinks and supper. As such, I'm very much the new guy and am still feeling it out. You can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity.I've very recently (Friday) joined the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, a.k.a.
